Mr. Kelly advises clients on structuring transactions and business relationships involving corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies and on tax and estate planning opportunities for individuals,. Mr. Kelly also represents clients in the resolution and litigation of tax controversies, both Federal and State courts, and represents clients at administrative proceedings of the Internal Revenue Service and state revenue departments.
Prior to establishing Kelly, Kelly & Company, LLC, David served as General Counsel to eGulf Technologies, a Massachusetts based technology service provider with offices in the United Kingdom, France, the Middle East and India. He was responsible for all legal matters including long range merger, acquisition and venture capital strategies. Prior to eGulf, Mr. Kelly was a member of the Tax Law Group with Gadsby & Hannah LLP, a Boston based law firm with offices in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Gadsby & Hannah LLP, Mr. Kelly served as Attorney-Advisor to the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C., where he served as a law clerk to Judge Lapsley W. Hamblen, Jr. David also served as a Tax Consultant with a Big Four public accounting firm in New York City and Boston. Mr. Kelly also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at Boston University School of Management, where he has taught individual and corporation taxation at the graduate and undergraduate level. Mr. Kelly authored an article published in Syracuse University Journal of International Law and Commerce titled "A Comparative Analysis of the United States – People’s Republic of China Tax Treaty: United States Tax Treaty Policy Concerning Developing Countries". Mr. Kelly also served as an Editor to the Boston University Journal of Tax Law.
Mr. Kelly is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and New York and before the United States Tax Court and the United States District Court of Massachusetts. David is a member of the American Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association Tax Sections. Mr. Kelly received a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Boston College, a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, and a LLM in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.
